Osteopathy & Cranial Osteopathy

Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions.  Osteopathy works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the integration of all the working parts.

Osteopaths use gentle physical manipulation, stretching and various effective techniques to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms.  Osteopaths also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Cranial Osteopathy:

Cranial Osteopathy is a refined and subtle type of osteopathic treatment that encourages the release of stress and tensions throughout the body, including the head. Keeping true to Osteopathic philosophy, the Cranial Osteopathy technique aims to restore the function and integrity of the human body that is lost during injury and trauma.  Cranial Osteopathy can be used on adults, but is most commonly known for its use with babies and children.

Osteopathic techniques for babies include using cranial osteopathic concepts, amongst other approaches, which are gentle yet extremely effective and may be used in a wide range of conditions for people of all ages, from birth to old age. Often, parents can also be involved with simple exercises and lifestyle advice that complement the Osteopath’s treatment of their child.
