ANTENATAL YOGA - WHAT IS IT?

Yoga for pregnancy is the specialized adaptation of Yoga designed to help you prepare emotionally and physically for giving birth and mothering. Yoga can provide the key to a relaxed and enjoyable pregnancy, helping you discover trust and confidence in your body.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Traditional yoga postures and breathing exercises are adapted to meet the needs of pregnant women, cultivating an openness of body and mind. Women can learn to relax and “make space” for their babies. Many of the gentle yoga positions are similar to birthing positions and will help during labour. You will learn to focus on the rhythm of your breathing, “breathing your baby out” rather than pushing, making a gentler birth. The style of the classes is to encourage women to find their own inner rhythm, which they can use in birthing.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTORS

Julie Llewellyn-Thomas is an experienced yoga teacher practicing in central London and locally in St Albans. Julie specializes in pregnancy, postnatal, baby, Active Birth Yoga and published a Baby Yoga book in 2006. Julie also teaches general class yoga, individual sessions and Yoga Therapy.

Guru Ram Kaur teaches Kundalini yoga and has a special interest in pelvic correction during pregnancy.

They are both committed, understanding and passionate about Yoga.

ABOUT THE CLASSES

    * Yoga for Pregnancy Classes are suitable for ladies 14 weeks onwards in their pregnancy
    * The classes are one hour sessions run as a course over 6 weeks
    * The courses are held on a Wednesday mornings and Monday and Wednesday evening
    * Places are limited to 6
    * Cost £70 per course
    * Pre-booking is essential
