My approach is Psychodynamic which means exploring how difficulties may reflect on not only present problems but also have connections with past experiences.
We all have times in our lives when we need to share our feelings in a way that is not always possible with family or friends. Counselling can give you that support through a difficult time.
You will be encouraged to talk about yourself, your feelings and emotions, memories and your relationship with family and friends, in fact anything you want to share about your life.
Is it for me?
Counselling is not about giving advice but offers the client a safe, confidential environment in which you can explore your problems and clarify your thoughts and feelings.
Are you suffering with:
Anxiety, depression, stress or feeling overwhelmed.
Issues about relationships, family problems, work situation or money.
Experience of violence, abuse, major life changes or other trauma.
Concerns about use of food, alcohol or drugs.
Searching for meaning in life.
Bereavement or loss.
Issues around sexuality or gender.
Sessions last for fifty minutes with the first being an initial consultation in order for you to meet me and ask any questions to help familiarize yourself with the counselling process. Sessions are usually held on a weekly basis for continuity but this can be varied to suit your needs.
The cost is £40 per session. You can pay by cheque or cash at the end of each session.
Confidentiality As your counsellor, whatever personal information you discuss with me remains confidential. The only exceptions to this are in circumstances where you or someone else may be at risk of serious harm, or if the counsellor is required to do so by a court of law.
